Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Blended Massage Melt away stress, relax sore muscles, reduce blood pressure, improve circulation, promote health and feel great. Recommended for relaxation/stress management and pain relief. Customized to your needs by combining many styles of massage and bodywork such as Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial, trigger point and assisted stretching. One hour - $80
Deep Pressure Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness. One hour - $65
What to Expect
It's my first massage. What should I expect?
Upon arriving to the Healing House, your first step is to take a really deep breath and relax. You and I will talk for a few minutes about your health history and preferences for the massage. I will customize the session for you and to your specific needs. Techniques and methods will be determined as to what kind of session you would most benefit from based on your objectives. I will then leave you in privacy to disrobe to your level of comfort and to get onto the massage table. From there, you can completely relax and enjoy the calming music and therapeutic benefits of the massage.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed, however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort. You will be properly draped during the session.
Will I be covered during the session?
Yes. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
For a typical full body treatment, your back, front and back arms, front and back legs, and neck and shoulders are massaged. Depending on areas of tightness and your goals for the session, your upper pectorals, stomach and hip muscles can be included. Additional areas based on your post-massage activities are your facial area and scalp.
What should I do during the massage?
Make yourself comfortable. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during the session. Feel free to ask me questions about massage or the particular technique you are receiving. Certain types of massage therapy require occasional feedback regarding pressure and technique, but most people achieve the greatest therapeutic benefits by limiting their conversation and quieting their mind so that they may completely focus on their body. The important thing is to enjoy the treatment the way that works best for you.
What if I am self-conscious about my body?
As a professionally trained Massage Therapist, I have worked on every type of body, from young to old, to large and small. Your session is based completely on your preferences, so feel free to let me know if you would rather me work through specific areas of clothing, or avoid an area all together.
How will I feel after the massage?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity/injuries. After the initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, greater productivity and heightened awareness which can last for days. It is recommended you drink plenty of water after your session to help keep your body flushed out and moving freely.
Please do not hesitate to talk with me prior to your treatment if you have any other concerns or question before receiving your massage.
